Kansas City police and Jackson County Sheriff's deputies arrested 17 persons on charges of driving under the influence in a sobriety checkpoint overnight at 634 Prospect Ave.
Authorities stopped 319 vehicles traveling northbound and southbound from 11 p.m. Friday night to 4 a.m. Saturday. Police said the stops also resulted in seven charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license; three hazardous moving violations; eight other traffic violations; one state charge of possession of a controlled substance; five city charges of possession of marijuana; one minor in possession of alcohol; two Kansas City warrants; and one Independence warrant.
