A local KS police department is taking action on the use of body cameras by its officers with the idea to avoid the confusion and distrust stemming from the police shooting of Michael Brown, Jr. in Ferguson, MO, last August. A body camera in that case would have surely ended any speculation as to whether the officer's use of force was justified. I would think most officers would prefer to have a camera running at all times. Its a win/win for both law enforcement and the community. However, many departments can't afford this equipment, and Wichita quite frankly hasn't said how they'll pay for the devices.
